Celebrating 25 Years of the Americans with Disabilities Act
We were honored and proud to join advocates and professionals from all over the greater Philadelphia region for Saturday's celebration of the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The event started at City Hall with performances by local artists and the SPIN choir, and then continued on as a parade over to the National Constitution Center, where more guest speakers reiterated an important message: we have made tremendous progress for individuals with disabilities, though we have a long way to go.
Indeed, even President Barack Obama wrote in a proclamation, "[A]s we celebrate this important anniversary and honor all those whose courage and dedication have driven our Nation's progress, we recognize that our work to uphold the spirit and the letter of this law is not yet finished ... let us reaffirm the inherent dignity and worth of every individual, and together, redouble our efforts to build a society where all things are possible for all people."
Today and always, we support individuals with disabilities and are committed to building the society of possibility to which President Obama referred. Take a peek at our Facebook photo album from Saturday to get inspired and energized by an even brighter future!
